Clarification: I don't usually eat out.

I got the feeling that my parents thought I had been eating out a lot ever since I was studying in Keele University. They based their assumptions on the various pictures of me eating out posted in this blog and facebook. Furthermore, when they arrived at my crib, there were still several uneaten instant noodles and unused pastes from Brunei in my kitchen cabinets. The fact that I told them I did not usually eat rice probably further confirmed their assumption... ‘in their opinion’.

However, that assumption is just not true. Seeing one side does not confirm the other side. I really hate it when people assume they know what I am doing, but they are actually getting it all wrong. Thus, I feel the need to clarify myself... although how small the matter seems to be.

Every month, I have a set budget of £50 and more on groceries. My interest in other things actually limits my opportunity to eat out as often as I would have liked. In fact, I cook even more often in the midst of completing my assignments, which usually covers almost three weeks of each month. I use cooking as an escape from all the stress the assignments is giving me. The reason I still have lots of instant noodles and unused pastes in my kitchen cabinets is because they are a lot for one person to eat, especially given the fact that I usually eat in small portion. Thus, I can use one packet of paste to cook for three times. Furthermore, I know it is not good to eat instant noodles too often. Lastly, the reason I do not eat rice a lot is simple. I like varieties, so today I may be eating rice, tomorrow I may be eating bread and the next day I may be eating potatoes. In fact, I have always preferred potatoes to rice – let it be in Brunei or in the UK.

If I have known that my parents would have come out with such assumption, I would have made the attempt to post pictures of me eating in, as well!!!

The following are some of my home-cook meals:
